Turkish Feast with Beyond Meat and Bean Salad

We love experimenting with recipes from around the world, and through our culinary discoveries, we’ve found that Excite My Bite balsamic vinaigrette works well with many cuisines. Here, we used this balsamic dressing to add a kick to a couple of Turkish-inspired dishes. The oregano, thick balsamic vinaigrette, and rich, savory flavors heighten these recipes – you’ll maybe even forget these dishes are homemade!

Part I: Turkish Beyond Meat Patties:

1  pound of Beyond Beef
1 egg
1 medium-size onion (diced)
5 garlic cloves (diced)
2 teaspoons of Excite My Bite Balsamic Vinaigrette
1/4 cup bread crumbs
1/4 cup chopped parsley
1 -2 diced jalapeños (depending on how much you like spicy food!)
1 diced red pepper
Pinch of oregano
Pinch of cumin
Red pepper flakes
Black pepper

Start by chopping all of the vegetables. Once chopped, add to a small mixing bowl. Add the spices and stir until veggies look coated. Open the packet of Beyond Meat, or other meat-free protein, and add it to the bowl. Mix by hand. Add Excite My Bite Balsamic Vinaigrette and when fully combined, add the egg and mix well – the mixture will be sticky. Add the breadcrumbs and continue to mix by hand. If the resulting mixture is particularly sticky, add more breadcrumbs until the texture becomes firmer. Rest for an hour. 
Form mixture into evenly-shaped patties…about the size of an egg each. Flatten slightly, and arrange on a small plate.
Heat oil over medium heat. Test oil by inserting a wooden spoon handle: If bubbles form around the spoon, the oil is hot enough. By spoon, add the patties one by one. Fry until crisp and dark brown on both sides. Layout on paper towels to remove excess oil and cool. Serve with bean salad (recipe below!) and rice or bread.

Part II: Turkish Piyaz – Bean salad

1 cup boiled (or canned) northern beans
1 small red onion – chopped thin slices
1/4 cup chopped parsley (or more, depending on taste preferences)
2 diced long hot peppers (more or fewer depending upon spice level preferences)
2 tablespoons of Excite My Bite Balsamic Vinaigrette

Slice onion, chop parsley, and add to a small bowl. Mix to combine. If using hot pepper, slice, remove seeds, and dice into small pieces. Add to bowl. Stir in Excite My Bite Balsamic Vinaigrette. Add beans. Mix together well, and add salt and pepper to taste. Serve with bread and, if desired, Turkish meatballs.
